Two control cylinders
It is known that for this configuration the suppression effect is even more pronounced but no experimental results are available.
Maximum of the stabilizing effect is observed for the same vertical position for single and two cylinders configuration. It is however shifted in rear position for two cylinders case and for x=2.5, y=1.0 it is possible to preserve the stable character of the flow for Re=141. It is the value for which the flow around circular cylinder without control is not only unstable but already close to the 3D instability. For optimal positioning of the control cylinders the influence of the slight unsymmetry is investigated by relocating one of them. Any change in the symmetry results in decrease of critical Reynolds number and reduces the stabilizing effect.
